Buy soap in bulk to save on packaging.

Basins:

• install aerators to taps to reduce water consumption.
• Replace washers in dripping taps immediately.
• Do not let the tap run needlessly when you are washing your hands or cleaning your teeth.

Showers

• Install a water-efficient shower head: it can cut water consumption by 50-80 per cent
• Whenever possible take a short shower rather than a bath
• Do not leave the shower running when you are not using it.
• Use soft' or biodegradable cleaners instead of harsh chemicals.

Toilets

• Install a low-flushing toilet or put a brick in the cistern to reduce water wastage.
• Buy unbleached uncoloured toilet paper to reduce pollution. Lobby your local shop if it is not available.
• Do not use coloured toilet disinfectant: cleanliness does not demand a constantly blue toilet. Use a biodegradable detergent and a toilet brush regularly instead.
