To clean:

vinegar or ammonia or tea

Wash mirror in a mild solution of vinegar or ammonia, or use cool tea.

borax

Wash with a mild borax solution for stains.

methylated spirits

Rub over glass with a moistened soft cloth. Can also be used to clean off
hairspray.

To polish

talcum powder - Polish with talcum powder once the mirror is clean.

nylon stockings or tights

These are good lint-free polishing cloths for mirrors.

flannelette turpentine water

Rinse cloth in water to which a little turpentine has been added. Polish mirrors for a lasting shine.

To prevent fogging

glycerine or glycerine and methylated spirits - Dip a cloth in the mixture and rub mirror.

Rub mirror with soap then polish with a soft cloth.

Measure grated soap pieces into a cup then into a saucepan. Add 2 cups of boiling water for each cup of soap and heat till dissolved. Stir in enough oatmeal to make a thick paste, and add a little fragrant oil if desired. Pour into moulds. Remove next day and shape into cakes, then allow to dry for several days. A good skin soap.

Alternatively, add a spoonful of glycerine or the Juice of a lemon, or both.

To clean

2 tablespoons vinegar - 1 L water

Rinse under cold tap then soak in vinegar solution for 1 hour.

Soapy sponge

Cut 2 small squares of foam, insert scraps of toilet soap, and sew inside the squares. Children will enjoy washing themselves with it.

To make more absorbent

2 handfuls epsom salts - 1 bucket water

Soak new bath or kitchen towels in this solution for 24 hours.
