Face |

Mascara, to soften
Immerse container in a mug of hot water, then after a few
minutes it will be ready to use.
|

Feet |

Feet treat
epsom salts surgical spirit
Dissolve salts in spirit and pat on feet. When dry, dust
feet with talc; your feet will stay cool and dry.
|

Hair |

For shiny hair
ammonia
Add a few drops to the final rinsing water.
Shampoo
1 cake mild soap
Grate or cut soap into a saucepan, add 500 mL boiling water
and simmer till soap dissolves. When cool, stir in a drop
or two of fragrant oil or eau-de-cologne, pour into a jar
and seal. Scoop out a little of this soap jelly and use as
needed.
Emergency shampoo
1 egg 1 lemon
Mix the egg with the juice from a lemon and wash hair in
cool water.
Emergency hair gel
sugar
Dissolve sugar in hot water until you have a thick solution.
Allow to cool, then comb through hair and style. As it dries
it will set and hold hair.
1 teaspoon gelatine 2112 cup hot water 1 teaspoon glycerine
Dissolve gelatine in 1/i cup hot water, mix in glycerine,
then add the rest of the water. Bottle and apply to clean
hair as needed. Dry and style in the usual way.
Hair brushes, to clean
cloudy ammonia soapy water petroleum jelly (optional)
For wooden brushes, protect the back first by smearing with
petroleum jelly. Wash the brush in soapy water to which a
dash of ammonia has been added, then wipe off the jelly and
run under the cold tap. Shake well and allow to dry.

Hands |

To clean gardener's hands
sugar olive oil
Pour a little of each into the hands, rub well together,
rinse.
To remove wood stains
lemon juice or sugar soap or 1 part bleach to 3 parts water
Rub hands with any of these, then apply a little soothing
lotion.
olive or baby oil
Wash hands in very hot water. Pat off excess water, then
rub a few drops of oil well into hands. Wash again in very
hot water. Repeat if necessary.
To remove nicotine stains
nail-polish remover
Rub stains with this, then rinse and apply hand lotion.
Hand lotion
olive oil lemon juice honey glycerine
Mix together equal parts and bottle.

Nails |

Nail polish
Keep it in the refrigerator and it will last much longer
without dryin g out.
To soften
nail-polish remover
Add a little to the bottle of hardened polish and allow to
penetrate. Shake well. Add more if necessary.
Other uses
Paint labels of medicinc bottles so they don't smudge.
Paint addresses on parcels so they don't run in the rain.
Coat the insides of bracelets and necklaces so they won't
leave marks on the skin.
Stained-nail cleaner
lemon juice sugar dripping or fat
Mix equal parts together and rub into stained nails.
Nicotine-stained fingers
Tip a little sugar into one hand and add a squeeze of lemon
juice. Rub into the stains then wash hands as usual.

Face masks
1 egg yolk 1 teaspoon honey 2 teaspoons lemon Juice
Beat till thick, apply to face and neck and leave for 10-15
minutes to dry. Rinse off with cool water.

Teeth |

To remove stains
bicarbonate of soda
Moisten toothbrush, dip in bicarbonate of soda and brush teeth
Dentures
To whiten
toothpaste bicarbonate of soda
Brush with toothpaste and dry bicarbonate of soda for white,
dentures.
