Shower curtains:
To clean
salt lemon juice
Make a paste and rub well into soap scum, then rinse in warm
water.
Plastic shower curtains
Do not rub, squeeze or wring plastic or rubberised shower
curtains.
To clean
methylated spirits hot water
Wring out a cloth in hot water, dip in methylated spirits
and wipe the soap
scum off the curtain.
1/2 cup bleach 1 bucket water
Wash down curtains with solution. Rinse.
borax
Wet curtain and rub powdered borax into soiled areas. The
soapy film will come away easily.
ammonia
Wash curtains in water to which a spoonful of ammonia has
been added. It will dissolve soap scum and stains. Rinse in
water to which a little mineral oil has been added: it will
soften the curtains.
To remove mildew
bicarbonate of soda or bleach
Use a mild solution of bleach and water, or make a paste with
bicarbonate of soda. Rinse, then rinse again in salt water
before hanging to prevent mildew returning.
Nylon shower curtains
To remove mildew
5 L cold water - 1/2 cup bleach - 1 tablespoon vinegar
Soak in this solution till mildew disappears.
