Storage Soloutions
Use the space
underneath an exposed staircase to create a storage closet.
When trying
to create more storage space in the kitchen be creative. Use wall
space to hang cooking utensils. Add shelving underneath your kitchen
island, or add hooks in order to hang pots and pans.
Don't use
bedside tables or coffee tables with empty space underneath --
make sure to use trunks or units with drawers, in order to use
for storage.
Old suitcases
can act as attractive storage units. Antique leather suitcases
look great stacked two or three high in the bedroom and living
room. If your taste is a bit more kitsch, stack a few brightly
coloured vinyl suitcases (which found fame in the late 1960s and
early 1970s) in the bathroom to store towels and such.
Don't underestimate
the power of cheap wicker baskets! Make sure to display them in
bulk -- three baskets in a row always looks great -- and not only
will they store lots of stuff (from mittens and hats to photo
albums and cosmetics) they will look wonderful.
A great way
to store tools in a workshop or craft room is to use clear plastic
storage containers. Will this keep sharp or heavy tools out of
the reach of small children, it will make it easier for you to
locate a tool.
Need more
space in the bedroom? Make sure to utilize any space underneath
the bed. Add wheels to boxes kept underneath the bed for easy
access, or simply buy a bed with storage built in!
