To stop `ladders'
soap or clear nail-polish
Dab a little of either on the end of the ladder or round the
hole to prevent it running. Nail-polish lasts through many
washes.
Longer lasting
1 part mixed starch | 15 parts warm water
Dip pantihose in this solution for a couple of minutes, remove,
squeeze outmoisture and allow to dry.
Uses for old pantihose
Thread through the arms of freshly washed woollens to prevent
peg marks while garment dries.
Use as a cleaning wad for the bath to prevent scratching
(especially good foracrylics and fibreglass).
Use as a polishing cloth for furniture or leather.
Use to tie plants to stakes.
Knit into coat-hanger covers or wrap round the ends of wire
coat-hangers to prevent garments slipping off.
