Keeping your hot tub in perfect working order can be a balancing act - a pH balancing act. It is important to keep the pH level of the water between 7.2 and 7.4. Outside of these numbers then problems can occur for you and your spa.
Maintaining pH levels at the optimal level ensures that you have clear skin and water as
pH imbalance can cause burning eyes, skin irritation and cloudy water.
Here are a few points to remember when checking your daily pH levels:
pH too low – means:
- Sanitiser performance will be adversely affected
- Hot tub equipment is likely to suffer corrosion
- Skin and eye irritation is possible
Solution: Add pH plus to the water
pH too high – means:
- Sanitiser performance will be adversely affected
- Cloudy water
- Probable scale formation
- Skin and eye irritation is possible
- Will need to clean filters more often
Solution: Add pH minus to the water
