Rules for Pools:
1 Have an idea of what you want: The design of your pool
should suit the architecture of your home and your landscaping,
if any.
2 Choose a good, reputable builder - this could be the single
factor that differentiates a dream pool installation from
a nightmare:
3 Interview and get written quotes from at least three pool
builders before you make a decision: Check that their licences
and insurances are valid.'
4 Make sure the written quote includes everything that you
discuss with the builder, from the - pool's dimensions to
included extras, such as underwater lights, 5 Shop around
for finance.
6 Enter into a contract with builder, again with everything
outlined in writing. Ask for a standard contract form of industry
recognition.
7 Building regulations vary from area to area, but you must
have council approval as well as a formal permit from your
water authority before work begins.
8 Check the builder's insurances - yes. again, if necessary.
9 Organise to have your new pool to be covered under your
insurance.
10. Ensure the pool company advises on operation and maintenance
procedures before the final handover.
