Swimming - Health Benefits

Use your pool to the max…

Whether you use your swimming pool for leisure, fitness or fun, swimming is a sport you carry with you for life.

A relaxing swim or floating like a star on the pool surface helps to unwind a busy mind whether full of school exam worries or concerns over stocks and shares.

Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise as there is no impact stress, so allowing your muscles to work at full capacity. Swimming is also a great way to recuperate after injury. Should you have a sports injury that needs attention, doing water aerobics, pool running or kick exercises in the water will help to minimize the time you are out of action.

Regular swimming builds stamina, cardio-vascular fitness and muscle strength. A swim before any land-based workouts acts as a form of warm-up. Equally, you can cool down in the pool after strenuous exercise with a gentle swim to ease your muscles. Why not try gliding and floating as a way to unwind. Bliss!

You could use your pool to raise money for charity by inviting your friends round for a fun aqua-robics session, water polo game or endurance swim – and charge them an entrance fee. You could also get people to sponsor you for whatever activity you choose for your nominated charity.

Try to finish any high-energy swim activity with a form of water meditation by relaxing into a gentle swim allowing your mind to empty of all thoughts. Doing this, you will leave your exercise session feeling refreshed and with a sense of well-being.
Make the most of your pool – invest in yourself.
